Natural Dyeing and Botanical Printing at Hawk Creek Farm for 6 - 11 year olds
Natural Dyeing and Botanical Printing 3-Class Series
3 Saturday mornings from 10am-12pm this coming Spring 2024:
Class is open to children ages 6-11 year olds
This 3-part class series will focus on exploring the colors and imprints of plants found growing at Hawk Creek Farm in the spring months. Students will learn how to create the dye vats as well as how to eco print flowers and leaves onto fabric. Each student will have the opportunity to dye a cotton bandana and pieces of silk and wool fabric that can be used for other projects.
Teresa O'Connor (she/her) is passionate about garden, farm, and outdoor education, and has spent the last 8 years teaching children how to plant seeds, tend to the earth, and respectfully harvest plants for food, medicine, and color. Sharing joyful moments with children in the garden is her happy place, as well as crafting together with earth-centered materials. Her personal practice focuses on developing deeper relationships with the plants and trees that surround us through natural dyeing, weaving, and stitching. Teresa teaches in the outdoor education program, Tree School, at Marin Primary & Middle School, and lives with her 2 children, 2 cats, a snake, and a gecko in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. Teresa was the Director of Hawk Creek Farm Camp this past summer 2023.
