4th-9th graders are invited to experience the magic of healing herbs on the farm. Students will learn to grow, harvest and process plants for medicine. Participants will study and create remedies to support the nervous system, immune system, integumentary system, and respiratory system. Each student will make an herbal first aid kit to take home at the end of the course. This course is appropriate for students who are new to herbalism and for those who have already taken Backyard Herbalism last school year.
Taught by Golden Bridges School Farmer Jenna:
Jenna Frank (she/her) is a permaculturist, outdoor educator, and lover of herbs. She received her B.A. from Skidmore College in Environmental Studies and International Affairs. For the past six and a half years she has been teaching urban agriculture to K-4th grade students and co-stewarding the Golden Bridges School Farm. Jenna has had the honor of spending extensive time working on female farming initiatives in Latin America. Whether backpacking, gardening, or farm fresh cooking, she is passionate about bringing children outdoors. Jenna is thrilled to have the opportunity to share her love of herbalism with children!
